2009 Vin Rosé

Appellation: Solano County Green Valley

Vineyard: The Wirth Ranch -The grapes come from a vineyard on a Southern facing slope. The vines are approximately 70 years old, head pruned and dry farmed.

Vintage:Abundant spring rains abated winter drought concerns, and a relatively temperate growing season throughout most of the state produced excellent fruit quality.. The harvest was moderately early but the fruit came in at full physiological ripeness.

Composition: 100% Valdiguie (Napa Gamay)

Vinification: Grapes were hand sorted and then crushed and left to sit on the skins for about 2 hours. It was then pressed and transferred to chilled stainless steel tanks for primary fermentation.

Tasting Notes: This deliciously crisp wine offers a floral nose with hints of violets along with aromas and flavors of fresh strawberries, strawberries and more strawberries as well as a bit of pink grapefruit and some splashes of minerality. It is bone dry with a crisp clean finish. Serve chilled on a warm sunny day either just by itself or with a plate of salumi, goat cheeses, grilled vegetables, smoked salmon or trywith curry flavored dishes, bouillabaisse, nicoise salad or spicy bbq chicken.
