2008 Vin Rosé
Appellation: Solano County Green Valley
Vineyard: The Wirth Ranch -The grapes come from a vineyard on a Southern facing slope. The vines are approximately 70 years old, head pruned and dry farmed.
Vintage: For a second straight year, rainfall has been less than average, combined with a severe heavy frost in March that affected the size of the vintage. The lower yield was reflected in the intensity of flavors developed in the grapes. The harvest was moderately early but the fruit came in at full physiological ripeness.
Composition: 100% Valdiguié (aka Napa Gamay)
Vinification: Grapes were hand sorted and then crushed and left to sit on the skins for 2-4 hours. It was then pressed and transferred to chilled stainless steel tanks for primary fermentation.
Tasting Notes: This deliciously crisp wine offers a floral nose with hints of violets along with aromas and flavors of fresh strawberries as well as some minerality. It is bone dry with a crisp clean finish. Serve chilled on a warm sunny day. Try with spicy foods, grilled white meats, salads and goat cheeses.
