2010 Chenin Blanc
Appellation: Solano County Green Valleyi
Vineyard: The grapes come from an irrigated vineyard on a relatively flat valley bottom soil. The vines are approximately 25 years old.
Vintage: 2010 will be remembered for being a season of unusually cool weather. There was one late summer heat spike that damaged some North Coast vineyards. However, the Chenin Blanc in Green Valley benefited from the long cool summer allowing the delicate flavors to fully develop. The harvest was moderately early but the fruit came in at full physiological ripeness.
Composition: 100% Chenin Blanc
Vinification: Grapes were handpicked by the wine makers, Bob & Fred, who "cherry picked" only the best clusters but only picked ¾ of ton. The grapes were de-stemmed and pressed then transferred to chilled stainless steel tanks for primary fermentation.
Tasting Notes: This wine screams of ripe cantaloupe aromas along with jasmine, honey-suckle and hints of lemon and minerality. Crisp and clean on the palate with bright acidity along with flavors of melon and white peach. Wonderful summer-time wine just by itself or serve with salt-cured meats such as prosciutto, soft, rich, slightly robust cheeses such as camembert, mildly-spicy Asian dishes or fried little fishes.
